World Cup Group B Review
Group B in the world cup spread the world from America to Western Asia. The Four teams that make up this Group is England, Iran, Wales, and the USA.
England
England is one of the favourite teams to go and win the world cup finishing in the Semi-Finals of the last World Cup. England only won the World Cup in 1966; can this be their year? The team is full of world-class players, including Harry Kane and Phil Foden. The team's weakest area is in the centre back and right back with the recent injury to Trent and James. However, the quality of the team makes them among the Five best teams in the world, and they are predicted to go far in this competition. England Fans are full of hype from the Euros, where they lost to Italy in the Final. However, England has not won a game in the last six games they have played, which is not the best preparation for a world cup.
The Pitchsider view is that they will finish at the top of the group and likely go to the semi-finals of the world cup. Once they get to the later stages of the competition, the problems at the centre-back and right-back will be too much for the bigger teams like Brazil and Argentina. However, it could be seen that England could go one better and go all the way.
Iran
Iran is one of the exciting teams in this group. Many people who watch the World Cup will not know much about Iran Team and their Tactics which makes them a very dangerous team. This could make it hard for the other teams in the group to be able to set up against them. Under their Croatian Manager, Dragan Skocic, Iran has been rather solid, scoring 15 goals in the 10 games of the qualification. Back in 1998 Iran played and beat a USA team in a world cup so the rematch could be a very good watch.
The Pitchsider view on Iran is that they could be one of this year's dark horses and real surprises with a win and a draw against USA and Wales, it could seem they make it out of the group, and both games could be very good to watch. However, I think USA and Wales may have a little bit too much quality, and Iran will finish bottom of the group.
USA
The USA is currently ranked 15th in the world ranking; therefore, it looks to be the team to finish second in the group, but they do face an upward battle with Iran and Wales to a very good team. The USA squad to an up-and-coming team with several young stars starting to make their way from America to the European Stage. The Key player for America is their captain Pulisic currently playing for Chelsea; he is one of their crucial man and can be one they look for the goal to push them on in the competition and maybe get the win. His goal-scoring record is 21 goals in 52 games, so look for him on the score sheet for the world cup.
The Pitchsider view is it will be a tight battle between USA and Wales for the second spot in the group; however, they will lose beat the Welsh on goal difference. It is an exciting team to be a USA fan, as in the coming year, they could have a very good team, but I don’t think they will make it further than the round of 16.
Wales
The final team in the group is Wales. They made it to the world cup after beating Ukraine in the playoff. They are currently ranked 18th in the world. Wales is a very good team on their day, but some star players are now in the autumn of their careers. Their biggest Star is, of course, Bale. However, he is nowhere near what he was like a couple of seasons ago; he can be a game-winner for Wales. This could be why they make it out of the group and go far as they did in Euros in 2016.
The Pitchsider view is that Wales will not make it out of the group but will give the USA a run for its money, which will go to the wire. However, I don’t even think that Bale will be able to save Wales from dropping out at the group stages.
Conclusion
Overall, I think this will be one of the best groups to watch with all the teams evenly ranked, and very likely, any of the teams will make it through; however, I think both England and the USA will make it past this group.
